This branded content piece for Nissan presents beautifully animated metaphorical days in the life of beings who thrive (and fade) based on their level of energy. Interesting 3D combo of CG and stop-motion. Directed by Tsuneo Goda (creator of Domo-kun). Part of Nissan’s larger Planet Zero campaign.
Still one of my favorite stop-motion animations of all time. This piece by Mark Osborne creates an incredible dystopian future.
This short animation by Javan Ivey is a fascinating effect. It’s also (unintentionally) perhaps one of the best analog visualizations of how programmatic digital art is generated. (for example, many of the demos made with the Hype Framework).
Mindrelic – Manhattan in motion from Mindrelic on Vimeo.
What can I say? Stop motion photography is cool. And Mandrelic seems to be a master in the making. Even his other tests manage to add a subtle sense of depth and motion that goes beyond just “speeding things up”. I applaud his patience and consistency as it’s paying off big time. Would be cool to see this with some more dramatic music.
The bar has been raised once again for brickmation. And who better to raise it than Patrick Boivin.
An incredibly cool light-painting effect by Dentsu London, using their own iPad app, Penki. By sequencing hundreds of light-paintings together, they form a stop-motion animation.
In anticipation of the supposed 1/26/2011 rollout of the next episode, here’s an oldy but a goody using nothing but sticky notes directed by Bang-yao Liu.
More excellent branded content. This time, a stop-motion piece from Lego.
Here’s another by the same artist:
Like several other clips here, I found this via Devour. I hate to keep mooching sweet links from them but until more of you submit more, it’s proven to be a great place to check out. If you know of something that doesn’t suck, please pass it along!.
